We just finished this custom tri stripe tolexed head cabinet for a great return customer, Anthony. Last year Anthony purchased an awesome 1x12 tri stripe speaker cabinet. He loved the cab so much, he decided to get a matching head cabinet for his Suhr Badger 18 (TM). We are looking forward to receiving some pictures from Anthony of the matching cabinets together!
We would like to welcome Seth Dolled, guitarist for The Fifth, to the Miyako Designs family. Scott and Seth worked closely to develop this one of a kind 1x12 cabinet. The cabinet is loaded with a Jensen Electric Lightning speaker and sports a closed back and floating baffle design. This unique combination makes the cabinet extremely tight and responsive but still maintains a very musical resonance. The cab walls are curly walnut, wenge, and maple. The baffle and back panel are baltic birch ply.
This cabinet is the largest solid mahogany cabinet we've completed so far. The cabinet walls are 5/8ths African mahogany and the baffle and back are 1/2 in baltic birch ply. the cab is loaded with 4 12in MOD 110's and measures 30"x30"x14". The black finish was a special request of the customer. It's hard to tell in the photos, but although the cabinet is stained completed black, the grain of the wood still shows through. The cabinet has extremely fat low end and raw edgy overdrive tone.
This beautiful tiger rosewood cabinet was one of my favorite custom guitar speaker cabinet projects of the year. The mission was find a wood whose color and grain were high in contrast. When I found this lot of tiger rosewood, I knew it was perfect. I decided to also use wenge to create the black stripes. To make the wenge stripes really pop out, I outlines them with thin curly maple stripes. The cabinet was a replacement cab for the customer's Framus Ruby Riot (TM) . Enjoy!
These two cabinets are two of my newest custom guitar speaker cabinets. The cabinets are made from hand picked planks of wood. Like all other Miyako Designs cabinets, these are outfitted with biscuit jointed glue ups, half blind dovetail corners, and birch ply struts. The cabinets also sport a convertible (closed or semi open) back panel. These two designs in particular are African mahogany / maple and ash / Santos mahogany.
Here is the latest Miyako Designs amp build. The build started with a Weber 6M18 kit and was finished off with a walnut and maple custom guitar speaker cabinet. The amp kit was hand wired, assembled and thoroughly tested by Miyako Designs. Please have a look at this masterful creation and have look at our other custom hardwood speaker cabinets!
This project was one of the most unique custom guitar speaker cabinet orders so far. The customer wanted me to take the brain out of a Traynor YCS50 (TM) combo and create a custom head cabinet for it. He also wanted me to recover his existing extension cab to match the head cabinet. Adding the stripes to the already covered extension cab wasn't an easy task, but the finished cab was a perfect match to the custom head.

We've been a little back logged on our project updates, but we've been doing some of our best custom amp cabinet work lately. This update has a few different cabs pictured but they all have one thing in common. All of the cab are of pine or poplar construction and feature our hybrid covering style (part tolex, part finished wood).

This custom head and speaker cabinet is a project that we are very excited about. It is definitely one of the most bold designs that we have ever created. It all starts with one of our favorite amps, the Ceriatone Overtone Bluesmaster. The head and speaker cab are made with curly maple and have matching lemon yellow stains. The cab is a 1x12 convertible back that is loaded with a Jensen Jet Blackbird alnico speaker. The entire setup sounds amazing! Everything from crystal clear cleans to screaming lead tone. Needless to say, we were very sad to see this one leave the shop. Hope you're loving it as much as we did Bob!
